Herry Nijhuis (1959) is director of STW (Stichting voor de Technische Wetenschappen). Since 2017 this is a department of the new NWO, called AES (Applied and Engineering Sciences). AES connects people and resources to develop technology with added economic value that contributes to solving societal issues. This is realised through the funding of excellent applied and engineering sciences research, by bringing users and researchers together, and by supervising projects towards optimal opportunities for knowledge transfer. Various funding instruments are available to achieve this.
